From the $5 Burritos and Bowls to the loud and energetic crowds that come through all day, we are always blown away by the amount of love we receive, and the opening of GYG Port Macquarie was a history-making, record-smashing party that we won’t forget!
After endless requests we had to bring GYG to the people of Port Macquarie, we finally set a date, hyped up our fans and opened. As the first GYG on the Mid-North Coast, the excitement and good vibes were certainly there on the day!
Rolling a total of 4,899 burritos on opening day and breaking the record for the biggest GYG restaurant opening, we definitely felt the love from the local community of Port Mac! The crew, made up of amazing locals, was on fire, rolling up a storm all day long!
GYG Port Macquarie was the third restaurant opened by our amazing Franchisee, Danny Athans.
“We’re excited to be supporting the local community through providing job opportunities and continuous career growth” Danny said.
Prior to the opening, Danny hired 65 locals to join the GYG family and in the weeks that followed he went on a hiring spree to keep up with the demand of his newly opened, drive thru GYG.
Because local is certainly at the heart of what we do at GYG, and there’s no exceptions when it comes to the process of opening a new restaurant!
“This was a ground up build and we only used local trades, we wanted to ensure that throughout the process we were supporting our local community” Danny Said.
